Using AI and machine learning, we are monitoring shark populations in the area. Our flagship citizen science project utilizes eco-tourism and involves members of the public helping us us collect data on the sharks of the region, and gives us more to analysis with our group.
We stay right by Boulders Beach, home to a unique and endangered land-based colony of African Penguins.
There is a recorded decline of the Boulders penguins and a global decline. Our mission is education, and how we can slow/halt this decline in a responsible manner.
We have a project based on the growth/decline of the great African Sea Forests. Using snorkelling and kayaks, we have set up a monitoring project which uses GIS to map kelp beds on the South Peninsula.
Community on our tours is very important and we are diverse in the ways we contribute. With our Marine Science tour, we are monitoring the area by doing frequent water sampling. We have partnered with a local university on this project, it involves going to pre-determined locations and collecting water samples from different depths. Further we do a beach clean up and a harbor clean. Utilizing the dirty dozen technique to count and classify waste items. Keeping an eye out for shark egg cases on the beach as well.
Learn about the use of quadrats for population sub sampling in ecological studies. Add to our growing database by going out on a rocky shore expedition. Spend the morning finding and studying all the amazing creatures in rock pools. Learn about visualising data and analysising data. Snorkel with the dogs of the sea, Cape Fur seals. You will have the opportunity to go to world famous dive sites and you may spend time with many amazing animals, including sharks, seals, octopus, sunfish, penguins and more! Adventure awaits.
We visit Cape Town, the Mother City with a vibrant mix of natural beauty, culture, and adventure. One of its most iconic landmarks is Table Mountain, which provides breathtaking panoramic views of the city and coastline. We explore the vibrant V&A Waterfront and the colorful Bo-Kaap neighborhood with its rich cultural history, and a scenic drive along Chapman’s Peak for stunning coastal views.
